Bridging quality media delivery through managed IoT networks
The Media Is the Message
The technologies that enable delivery of such high-quality media services are part of what AXON Platform for Media supports and manages. But our platform also affords the opportunity to extend those services into the next-generation of consumer essentials.
Time. Data. Bandwidth. Delivery.
Today, our solution manifests state-of-the-art media delivery services through over-the-top (OTT) dongles, 4K streaming, quality of service (QoS), next-generation graphics (NGX), and more. The AXON Platform for Media curates them all so our partners can supply premium video services to their subscribers and consumers through existing networks. Traditionally, if you’re a cable provider, you deliver your video via coaxial/high-frequency cable. If you’re a satellite provider, you deliver via satellite. If you’re a telco, you’re using VDSL or XDSL or fiber. Now service providers are embracing an all-IP delivery mechanism or content delivery network (CDN), enabling the on-demand media consumption services we’ve all come to demand.
The notion of an all-IP infrastructure is complex, and AXON Platform for Media is equipped to provide that architecture regardless of provider type or CDN. Better still, Greenwave offers something greater than the means to create and maintain quality media delivery services: the capacity for extension.
Because the media core within our system fully interacts with the network core, new premium OTT content delivery services are unlocked.
Consider a future multi-service subscriber sitting in his living room captivated by
a football game on TV. An overlay could pop up in the bottom of the TV screen with a text message notifying him that his son has arrived at a concert downtown. The family phones are all connected to the services enabled by the platform and fully integrated into the provider network.
And the game continues.
Then a deliveryman rings the doorbell. His image pops up on an overlay in the corner of the TV screen. It is transmitted via a security camera on the porch that, along with the doorbell, is also connected and enabled by the platform and fully integrated into the network. Our football fan simply clicks his remote, also enabled by the platform and requests that the package be left on the doorstep.
And the game continues.
If we want to have more fun at his expense, imagine an overlay on the TV pops up to inform our thwarted viewer that the connected and integrated smoke detector in the kitchen is indicating a fire and we know he’s going to have to get off the couch.
The game is finally paused.
Football fans across the globe may be alarmed, but all the technology mentioned here is already possible via AXON Platform for Media. These are the types of enhanced connected services that will power OTT content provision in coming days.
Unleash the Power of Your Networks
The media core that enables this future has to interoperate with the right pieces of a provider network to deliver such targeted and personalized connected services, but that is our specialty.
